Both the actors feel the film falls in the league of 'new cinema'.
"Anurag has been a great
revolution in Indian cinema and the kind of films that he has been
making and has been promoting, are creating a new audience and that is
very exceptional and much appreciated," Amitabh told reporters here.
'Chittagong' is ready since 2010
and is finally releasing after facing many hurdles. There were reports
that the film's release two years ago was stalled for the sake of
'Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey'.
Shah Rukh said he "wanted to be part of the film, but unfortunately it didn't happen".
"I am so happy that this film is
releasing now. It's a very important film and I have heard a lot about
it. It's an interesting piece of cinema and I wish all the best to it,"
he added.
Besides Bachchan and Shah Rukh,
several B-town celebrities like Jaya Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, Sonu Sood
and Vishal Bhardwaj were spotted at the film's premiere.
Directed by Bedabrata Pain and
co-produced by Sunil Bohra, Anurag Kashyap, Shonali Bose and Pain,
'Chittagong' features Manoj Bajpayee, Vega Tamotia, Jaideep Ahlawat and
Alexx O'Nell.
The film, set against the backdrop of the Chittagong uprising of the 1930s British-occupied India, will release Oct 12.
