5 colours that Bollywood endorses
Black is THE color of choice of the superstars. Whenever the men of Bollywood take the centre-stage, they rarely deviate from wearing any color other than black. The color exudes power and who better than the three 'Khans' would display the color in its real essence?
Blue is considered to be a royal color and our ladies seem to be quite aware of that. A few of the actresses who really love to wear this color time and again are the ones ruling the industry at the moment, viz. Kareena Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra and Aishwarya Rai.
This color is so gorgeous that every time anyone flaunts it, one can't help but go green with envy. This color, however, suits only a few and the lucky ones that carry it extremely well are our dusky beauties of Bollywood. The color seems to be a special favorite of Malaika Arora Khan though we think that it's not the color that makes her look hot but she who makes the color look good.
Yes! Our stars look red hot when they wear this color. Its the ultimate red-carpet look and is considered one of the grandest of all colors. The actresses that wear this color the most, are fiery and, of course, hot. The list includes the current 'in demand' actresses Vidya Balan and Bipasha Basu, and the spunky Preity Zinta.
White is a color that makes one look angelic and innocent but for our B-town actresses, it is much more than that. It is a color that is the most in vogue which adds some notches to their style statement. The actresses most spotted in white are Katrina Kaif and Sonam Kapoor.
Raveena Tandon: Reel to real
Her transition from reel to real is effortless. Women look their best after 30. By this time you know what works for you and what doesnt, Raveena says with a confident flourish. When I joined the industry, I had unkempt eyebrows, badly permed hair and didnt have much sense of style. Today I am confident about my choices and look better than I ever did, she adds candidly.
HEALTHY FROM WITHIN
That Raveena is healthy from within shows up in the way herface
glowsshe barely even needs a touch-up! So whats her secret A few lucky
women inherit good skin and hair; most of us have to work at it. What
you eat and how you live shows on your face and body, she says. Smoke,
and your lips will darken; cheat on fruits and veggies and your skin
will look dull.

Healthy eating is a way of life
for Raveena. Ever since I can remember, I have loved fruits and sprouts,
she says. Now, she is even more conscious about whats on her plate. My
food is cooked with very little oil, I avoid fried foods altogether and
give myself a sweet treat only on weekends, she says. Shes not in the
race to be a certain size. But shes fit enough to inspire every woman.
ON BEING A MOM
For those of you who didnt know, Raveena was already a mother to two
grown-up girls when she was barely 20 and still single She adopted Pooja
(then 11) and Chhaya (then 8)daughters of her distant cousin who had
fallen upon bad times. I felt that the girls didnt have the life they
deserved, so I took them inand I am so glad that I did. When I see them
successful and happy today, I feel immensely proud and satisfied, says
the beaming mom. In fact, the welfare of the girl child is a cause that
is close to her heart. I grew up seeing my mom volunteer at orphanages.
It instilled in me the idea of giving back to the community, says the
actor who has been an ambassador for UNICEF, CRY and WRAI (White Ribbon
Alliance India).

They love each other. Pooja and
Chhaya are surrogate moms to my younger ones. Just recently, Rasha had
to write an essay titled My Special One and she wrote about how her
older sister from Cape Town (Pooja is now married and settled there)
cares for her, says Raveena, showing us a photograph of the siblings on
her phone. Her family has been her first priority. This explains her
three sabbaticals from work. Kids need a sense of security that mom and
dad can give them.
I
was lucky to have been brought up in a close-knit family. My mom would
be at the door to receive us from schoolnot at kitty parties. I want to
give my kids that support too, she says. From getting her kids ready for
school to packing their lunch boxes and helping them with homework,
shes a hands-on mom.

Husband Anil
Thadani pitches in when he can. The family spends a lot of time together
they go swimming, to the movies and visiting places for school
projects. As Raveena says, its the small things that make the big
difference.

RAVEENAS MANTRAS
Breast feed for atleast 6 months. Dont give in to the pressure of
getting back in shape in an insanely short time. Its neither good for
you, nor your newborn. Check with your gynae what foods you should be
consuming. Strict dieting at this time is a no-no. And yes,
breastfeeding can actually help you burn calories.

Don't
let yourself go. Children or age is no excuse to give up on being fit
and looking good. If anything, these should make you want to pay more
attention to yourself. Only when you are healthy and fit will you be
conscious about your kids health. Remember that you are their role
modelwhat kind would you rather be.

Pass or fail - the motto of 'Sur Kshetra' with Atif Aslam and Himesh Reshamiya
Either 'pass or fail' seems to be the motto of 'Sur Kshetra', a musical reality show which will be aired on Colors and Sahara One channel simultaneously.
The musical reality show will be judged by legendary singers Asha Bhosle, Abida Parveen and Runa Laila, while Himesh Reshammiya and Atif Aslam will be mentoring the Indian and Pakistani teams respectively.
The show promises to be different from the rest in terms of judging the participants - they will either be given a zero or a ten for their performances.
The concept of the show is very unique. Either pass or fail. It was very tough, all the contestants sing so well," Asha Bhosle said at the launch of the show, held at a suburban hotel here Thursday.
The lack of any points between zero and ten made it very difficult for the judges, contestants and mentors, but they have taken the challenge in the right spirit.
What keeps Sridevi glowing at 49?
Sridevi is fit as a fiddle at 49, and the reason behind it, she says, is the right diet, power yoga and the quality time she spends with her two daughters.
"I believe whatever is inside, reflects on your face. I hate fried and junk food. Being happy and in a good state of mind, thinking positive really makes a difference.
I love power yoga and love to play tennis with my children, maybe that is the reason," Sridevi said here.
She spoke on the sidelines of the launch of Society Interiors magazine's special issue, which features her on the cover.
The actress is ready to make a comeback to the big screen after 15 years. She stars in "English Vinglish", directed by filmmaker R. Balki's wife, Gauri Shinde.
Revealing the reason why she took up the project, Sridevi said: "I signed this movie because of the script.
"English Vinglish", about a housewive's struggle to learn English, is slated to release Oct 5. It will premiere at the Toronto Film Festival Sep 14.
Sridevi’s struggle with Hindi continues
This is not the first time Sridevi has a language supervisor for her film
Sridevi character in her comeback film ‘English Vinglish’ is quite close to the struggle the actress faced in her real life while working on Hindi films in Bollywood.
The south Indian actress had her bit of struggle with her Hindi when she stepped into Bollywood. Where on one side knowing and being fluent with Tamil made her dominance in South Indian cinema rather easy, her journey in Bollywood has had a lot of frictions because her command over Hindi was weak. Since she was not comfortable with Hindi, she always had a teacher by her side when shot her scenes.
So little wonder that on the sets of 'English Vinglish', Sridevi had lyricist Kausar Munir as her a full time language supervisor. Munir has worked on films like 'Ishaqzaade' and 'Ek Tha Tiger' and is director Gauri’s friend and took up the assignment to assist her. "Gauri is a dear friend. During the pre-production, she called me and asked me to be the language consultant for Sridevi. I wanted to contribute in any way possible and also am a huge fan of Sridevi's films like Chaalbaaz and Chandni. I started doing workshops with Sri two months before the film went on floors. Then Gauri suggested that I should be present on the sets as well." So when she was shooting for her film English Vinglish abroad, Munir was there to help Sridevi juggle between Hindi and English language in the film.
The film which is produced by Rakesh Jhunjhunwaala, R Damani, Sunil Lulla and R Balki is a story of a woman’s struggle with the English language and the insecurities she faces because of it. The film shot mostly in abroad captures her transformational journey.
